Associated Resolutions

Resolution Abstract Status
SA R6 (2026-2027): Solidifying Students with Disabilities' Representation in Assembly Programming This resolution requires the Students with Disabilities Representative to serve on the Campus Pulse Committee. Adopted by the Assembly
SA R7 (2026-2027): Reforming Annual Anti-Bias and Transparency Training Procedures This resolution transfers responsibility for developing the Student Assembly’s annual anti-bias and transparency training from the Campus Pulse Committee to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, while establishing a procedure for distributing, administering, and documenting the training through Student Assembly committee chairs. Adopted by the Assembly
SA R8 (2026-2027): Amending the Faculty Handbook to Require Syllabus Publication on the Class Roster and Encourage Common Syllabi for Multi-Section Courses This resolution recommends two amendments to Section 6.1 of the Faculty Handbook. The first replaces the existing encouragement that instructors attach syllabi to the Cornell Class Roster with a requirement tied to the opening of pre-enrollment. The second adds a subsection encouraging academic units to adopt a common syllabus across sections of the same course taught by different instructors. Adopted by the Assembly
SA R9 (2026-2027): Expanding the Office of Ethics and the Office of Elections, Requiring Continuity of Membership, and Establishing an ROTC Liaison This resolution amends Article VI, Section 7 of the Student Assembly Bylaws to expand the Office of Ethics from seven to nine voting members and the Office of Elections from nine to thirteen voting members. It further requires that, in constituting each incoming Office, a majority of seats be filled by returning members and a set number of seats be reserved for members who have not previously served, so that neither Office loses its institutional knowledge in a single turnover cycle. It further amends Article I, Section 3 to grant the ROTC community a non-voting liaison seat on the Assembly. In Discussion
SA R10 (2026-2027): Upholding Cornell's Health Excuse Policy and Ending Faculty Requests for Medical Notes This resolution calls on the Office of the Dean of Faculty and the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education to enforce existing University policy, which does not allow instructors to require doctor’s notes for short-term illness. Cornell Health does not write these notes, so students who are asked for one must either pay an outside provider or accept an academic penalty. The resolution recommends a semesterly reminder to instructors, standard syllabus language, and a clear point of contact for students who are still asked for documentation. In Discussion
