Whereas, the Environmental Collaborative is no longer designated a by-line funded organization, per the 2023-2024 fee-setting cycle,

Whereas, in late August 2025, Cornell Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) conducted a review of the Risley Art Shops and Theatre and immediately closed them.

Whereas, the administration (Student and Campus Life, SCL, and Housing and Residential Life, HRL) claimed to have found safety concerns in these spaces but did not provide details. They argued that EHS had been oblivious to the shop conditions and needed to limit access immediately.

Whereas, Cornell Health houses the Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) office, which provides psychological and mental health counselors to the Cornell University community,

Whereas, the Sexual Harassment & Assault Response and Education (SHARE) office acts as a free service connecting survivors of sexual violence with a SHARE advocate who can aid students navigating their options for reporting a sexual assault,

Whereas, incoming students are required to complete a series of trainings before enrolling at Cornell,

Whereas, this training includes videos demonstrating consent, both through recorded lectures and mock scenarios,

Whereas, this training also features the role of substance use, including alcohol and drugs, on an individual’s ability to give consent,

Whereas, a sexual assault was reported to have occurred at the Xi chapter house of the Chi Phi fraternity on October 19, 2024, and the University closed that chapter in 2024 and has kept it barred from campus since [1],

Whereas, in September 2026, a former Cornell student filed a civil lawsuit in New York State court naming the University, national and local Chi Phi organizations, seven current and former chapter members, and other parties [2],
